Tips on using NetNanny

NetNanny has different accounts to control access rights for different people such as parents and children of various ages.

Changing users

NetNanny current user and settings can be changed using the NetNanny icon in the Windows System tray. The collection of icons usually at the bottom right of the start bar.

How To:

  • Temporarily deactivate NetNanny :

    Right click on the NetNanny system tray icon. Click Activate/Deactivate NetNanny. You will need the administrator password.

  • Add Remove Modify Accounts
    • Right click on the NetNanny system tray icon. Click Net Nanny Settings. You will need the administrator password.
    • Click the User Settings bar in the NetNanny Settings left window pane.
    • Use the Add Remove or Edit User tabs to change user accounts.

    Family with young children

    Use the Anybody default account for the children. Setup a separate account with a password for the adults. Change the settings on the adult account to allow full access and require a password. The adults must login to NetNanny with the adult account to get full web access.
